Power Springs

Power springs, are also called as motor springs or clock springs.

The power springs are made of steel strip coiled by a strip of wire, and the coils do not contact each other in the free status. When this kind of spring works, one end of the spring is fixed, and the other end is applied torque. Each section of the strip material bears the bending moment to cause bending elastic deformation, forming a turning moment, thereby storing energy, the size of the deformation angle and the applied torsion proportional, when the torsion is released, the spring will automatically untie and generate torque.

This kind of springs occupy a considerable space in the free status, which is often 10 times or more of the volume when they are fully tightened on the shaft. Therefore, when using this type of springs, it is usually installed in the power box. The instrument with this spring can obtain a smaller appearance size. In addition, the use of the power box can also allow the power springs to have a relatively complete outer end fixing method to improve its working condition and also facilitate the preservation of lubrication oil.

Power springs are reliable, easy to maintain, moisture-proof, and explosion-proof. They are widely used in timers and time devices, such as clocks, recording instruments, household appliances, etc., and also widely used in toys as power sources.
